Competition

The North, South and Central Mine Rescue Zone Competition take place annually. Mine Rescue teams are sponsored by their employing mines to compete in friendly competition designed to challenge and train teams in new and current techniques.  Winning teams from each division move to a Provincial level competition.

Written/Bench

Knowledge based test of the Mine Rescue Manual and rescue equipment and/or techniques (i.e. mine rescue lamp, rope skills including knots and mechanical advantage, gas testing equipment, and more).

Fire

Scenarios that test the team's ability to contain or extinguish fires using fire extinguishers, and SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) use including patient rescue from smoke filled buildings.

Rope and Extrication

Team skills are showcased in a rope challenge, this includes high angle and slope rescue.  

First Aid

This scenario based task is designed to test specialty skills in First Aid.
